Fitzgerald, 48, said she first called Dell's toll-free support hotline in late December 2008 after realizing she couldn't locate a number of erotic pictures of herself she thought she had saved on her desktop computer to send to her boyfriend.
The single mother of a 14-year-old daughter admittedly has very little working knowledge of computers and the Internet and was genuinely worried about where the nude pictures might appear.
"I couldn't find them on my computer and that made me nervous. I didn't know where they went," she said.
Fitzgerald said she was connected to a technical support representative in Mumbai, India, named Riyaz Shaikh. Fitzgerald explained the delicate nature of the task and authorized Shaikh to assume remote control of her computer.
"I trusted him. I trusted him because he was a Dell technician," she said.
Fitzgerald said she watched Shaikh browse the contents of her computer from Mumbai, then watched as Shaikh discovered her nude photographs attached to e-mails sent to her boyfriend.
"I watched him take the pictures out of my e-mail. I watched him," she said emphatically.
Shaikh later identified himself as an employee of Sitel India, an outsource call center service which offers technical support under contract to Dell.
Following her initial contact with Dell's contract support provider, Fitzgerald received an e-mail from an unknown source notifying her that the racy photographs had shown up on a vulgar website established through a free hosting service.
The site, called "bitchtara," appears to have been created Jan. 7, 2009 and featured 16 nude and semi-nude photographs of Fitzgerald along with graphic descriptions of sexual activity she supposedly enjoys.

Ian David Blundell, 31, was found by police with 56,767 child porn images, 1608 videos and 963 documents and stories.
The images included babies as young as six months and torture.
The Victorian County Court heard that 31-year-old Blundell downloaded the images "almost daily" for three years between 2005 and 2008.
He pleaded guilty to charges of knowingly possessing child pornography, using a carriage service to transmit child pornography and making or producing child pornography.
The producing charge relates to him copying the material onto CDs, the court was told.
Judge Sue Pullen said the images comprised the "worst category" of child pornography and included babies as young as six months.
There were images of torture, bondage and bestiality.
Victims were distressed and crying, tied up and held down, Judge Pullen said.
Blundell's conduct must be regarded as "having contributed to the sexual exploitation of children", she said.
"There is no doubt child pornography is an international problem," Judge Pullen said.
"Your criminality in my opinion is at the high end of the scale."
The court heard Blundell is a disability support pensioner who has bipolar disorder.
Blundell, of Morwell, in eastern Victoria, was jailed for five years with a non-parole period of three.

A Russian man died after guzzling a bottle of Viagra to keep him going for a 12-hour orgy with two female pals.

Today 4chan hacked YouTube using a vulnerability in the site’s comment system. While the hack was used on a variety of videos, striking music videos featuring teen pop idol Justin Bieber was the most popular activity.
Twitter it up with complaints about the problem, Google support got some concerned posts on its forum, and we received tips in our inbox. The event caused quite a Sunday-morning stir.
The bug allowed users to inject HTML (the code that most websites are built with) that could be executed on the site, whereas HTML within comments is supposed to be restricted. The hackers did everything from force pop-up messages to appear over the site declaring that it had been hacked to redirecting Bieber video pages to sites hosting pornography and malware.
Google disabled comments within an hour of the start of the attack, then corrected the exploited bug within two hours, according to a statement sent to The Next Web.
Last week they successfully voted Biber into going to north korea send Bieber to North Korea.
