Frank Frazetta, one of the most important and influential artists in the world of fantasy and science fiction, has died at the age of 82 after a stroke on may 9 2010, as confirmed by Heidi MacDonald of The Beat this morning.
Frazetta was best known for his oil painting covers, where his depictions of muscular warriors and beautiful women in titles like "Conan" and "Tarzan" were incredibly influential to the fantasy genre. Frazetta's style ultimately came to define much of the visual style in the genre today, inspiring a generation of artists like Boris Vallejo and Arthur Suydam. His influence extended beyond comics, as well, with his scantily-clad women even inspiring the famous Slave Leia bikini costume from "Return of the Jedi."

The front page of Digg has not yet experienced the fallout as most of the top images today were from yesterday’s Reddit front page, but tomorrow is expected to be a low-Digg-count-day with Redditors unable to supply Digg users with content to submit.

2D Boy, the developers of the popular independent game World of Goo, had a pay-what-you-want birthday sale with curious results. For the next seven days, Wolfire Games is attempting the same kind of sale, but with some new twists. Wolfire Games' Humble Indie Bundle contains five independent games (World of Goo, Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru HD, and Penumbra) with no DRM and they are all cross-platform. In addition to directly supporting the developers of these five games, part of the money also goes to the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Child's Play Charity. No matter how much you spend, you also get to choose who your money goes to (charity only, developers only, evenly, or custom).
